(NIV1984) 1 Kings 22:30 – “The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, ‘I will enter the battle on disguise, but you wear your royal robes.’ So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.”
How was Jehoshaphat okay with this?! Sure, you go in disguise, and I’ll go out as a king. Why was that okay?
The people needed their king to lead them. Perhaps this was pride on Jehoshaphat’s part. But I just don’t understand what he’s been thinking in the past couple of verses. It seems out of character for him.
And Ahab – did he really think a disguise would fool the God of the universe? He is showing how little he trusts God here – the God Who sees everything.
