(NIV1984) 1 Kings 22:13 – “The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, ;Look, as one man the other prophets are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably.'”
Let’s just take a moment to look at this messenger. He “had gone to summon Micaiah”, who is a prophet of the LORD, yet he tries to tell him what words to say. Where is his faith? Does Micaiah control fate by what he says, or is Micaiah proved right by saying what the LORD has given him? It is the LORD who determines the future, not Micaiah. The only way he could speak favorably is if the LORD gives it to him. He does not determine what he prophesies; the LORD does.
Did the messenger not know that?
