1 Kings 21:23

So right now, as my head is swimming with all God has been showing me today, it’s really nice to come back to this and review what I’ve already learned.  The reminder, the re-membering, the review of knowledge – it’s really important.  (This is one of the things God showed me today.  This one is not so much causing my head to swim.)
I hope y’all enjoy going through this with me, and I really hope that we can come back to this again and see where we were and how we grew from it and how our thoughts or feelings about passages have changed over the years.  🙂

Into today’s passage!

(NIV1984) 1 Kings 21:23 – “‘And also concerning Jezebel the LORD says: “Dogs will devour Jezebel by the walls of Jezreel.”‘”

Now – this is much worse than has previously been prescribed to Ahab.  Yes, dogs will lick up his blood – but they won’t eat him!  -shudders-

But Jezebel is the one who planned out the murder of Naboth – and she was the one killing all the priests.  And she did specifically (fruitlessly) threaten Elijah.  Perhaps it’s just interesting that this wasn’t pronounced on her until the same time a sentence is pronounced on Ahab – and almost, seemingly, as a result of the murder of Naboth and making the Israelites have a hand in it – instead of the murder of the prophets or the threat to Elijah.
